Surplus and liquidation auctions a good way to make an extra dollar?

Hey im a college student with a jam packed schedule with work and school, and im looking for a way to make an extra dollar with out spending to much time to get myself by. I hear about these government auctions and complain surplus and liquidation auctions and how cheep the prices of most stuff is on there and it sounds like a good way to make some extra cash. Is this a good idea? If so could you guys help me out with the ins and outs of the whole thing like what sites to look at, what to bid on and where to sell the stuff i get? Thanks!
