Why do Democrats and Republicans ignore strengthening employee rights?

All they talk about is strengthening the economy without going into specifics. Making money is not easy but most protections are just an illusion. The At-Will Employment Doctrine has striped all legal protections of ordinary US citizens and yet the only ones not scared are Republican Ron Paul with Democrats Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At-will , http://jobsearchtech.about.com/od/laborlaws/l/aa092402.htm http://jobsearchtech.about.com/od/laborlaws/l/aa092402_2.htm ALSO The US Constitutional amendments hardly apply to the US Private Sector and that is why many wealthy people want to privatize the US Public Sector, moreover, the regulations in the Private Sector are more lax thus is why the White House wants private and NOT the US Government Printing Office or GPO for contracts. All points-of-view are encouraged! I wrote about the US GPO as an example how the US Private Sector has laxed rules except when making money. The US Public Sector has more safe guard to ensure VERIFIABLE documentation and facts. The only ones not scared to talk about The At-Will Employment Doctrine are Republican Ron Paul with Democrats Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich. Ron Paul is the only that might be be for it since he is a former Libertarian A Libertarian http://www.friesian.com/ross/ca40/ Who he is and where he came from http://www.friesian.com/ross/ "Many US citizens ignore that US Civil Liberties and US Civil Rights HAVE been weakened by legislation undermining the Supreme Law of the Land, the US Constitution, with the fact that few US Amendments hardly apply to the US Private Sector" RL Pritchard, Los Angeles Valley College http://www.lavc.edu/ I have a stalker: RTO Trainer http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt=Ag.OvMGFTmrsZgQU5Y719snX7BR.;_ylv=3?show=fe57457146ff1608077b527bfec6f2dcaa We are both veterans and disagree on some issues.

  1. At-Will employment is done at the state level, not the federal level. And there are several laws protecting employees. In today's job market, all you really need to do is show up (on time) and do as you're told, and you're viewed as being an exceptional worker.
  2. The US Consitution was never intended to extend to the individual or to private business. It's a restraint on government. Period. Nothing wrong with At Will Employment. It also allows an employee to walk out of a bad situation any time. I guess its easy to be "not scared" when they've also got no brains. Fortunately for all of us, they also have no chance. That bit at the end about the GPO, what is that? Makes no sense.
  3. we dont need stronger employee rights. Our unions have driven a lot of industry out of our country by demanding exhorbitant wages and benifits for persons with very little skill. Your average autoworker wouldnt qualify to work at wendy's yet they are paid more than a professor with a PhD at any college. What we need to do is to step back and let market forces control the job environment. Once unions were necessary to correct the injustices of sweatshops and child labor, now they have just become another problem leading to outsourcing of jobs in our country.
