Why would western companies with all there riches and civilization bribe their way to win contracts in Africa?

Recently, reports from international media indicted foreign firms for bribing government officials from Nigeria, Italy etc with huge sums of dollars to win contracts. The implication of this evil is to perpetually impoverish the already bastardized Africans and enslave them economically

5. Money money money. Africa is showing the possibility of having huge oil reserves. China is currently investigating many locations of Africas coast. They also have a sizeable population there starting trade and buisness. Where those things are money is. Other companies simply want a piece of the pie. Capitalism at its most basic knows no prejudice either in race, political difference,religeous or moral difference. It is the people running the companies that have that responsibility.
6. Because African Nations are by far the most corrupt in the World. You need to bribe almost everyone to get by there. My dad worked for Shell Oil in Nigeria and the company had to bribe the police to protect the compounds from constant raids by thieves. These criminals would come into where the foreigners lived because they knew that they had the money.
