why is bush saying he is going to veto renewing the clean water act?

he doesnt like clean water either? maybe becasue it's not oil. Other House-passed measures that Bush has said he would veto include: _A renewal of the Clean Water Act that would require state and local governments getting federal grants for water treatment plants to pay "prevailing" local wages often tied to pay scales for unionized building trades workers. Non-unionized construction firms say that would give their unionized rivals a competitive advantage in winning contracts. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070531/ap_on_go_pr_wh/unions_veto_threats;_ylt=AoNXI06N.dlnWeTtk12DhN2s0NUE

  1. he likes dirty water. Pigs like mud.
  2. It takes money from his war
  3. Because Bush wants to keep the record as the worst environmental president in US History. Actually it's because the more lax environmental laws (including the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts) are, the easier it is for businesses to make money because they can basically pollute all they want. Once they have to reduce their pollution, that costs money and cuts into their profit margin. Bush is all about big business and doesn't care about the environment, so this is an easy decision for him. All the big companies who contributed to his campaigns are getting a little kickback by way of weakening environmental laws such as this one. Basically it's all about greed and the almighty dollar at the expense of the environment.
  4. he is not putting this country first... all he cares about is Iraq
  5. Here is the same guy who is pandering to the world with a grand plan to bring to the G8 summet. What a hypocrite. Bush doesn't, and never has, have a clue about what reality. Think of it we will have to drink 10 dollar a gallon bottled water like France does because he doesn't want to give workers a decent living wage. I like the idea of turn on the tap and get pure, fresh, clean water. He gets his way and that is over until a Democrat can come in and straighten things out again. Bush doesn't care. I keep telling people that maybe this will convince people he only cares for corporate interests and nothing else.
  6. Liars like you fool people in thinking Bush has ever had such a plan or that any such plan has been proposed. You are a victim of poor schooling and propaganda.
  7. In actuallity he is against unions. Its not against clean water. A renewal of the Clean Water Act that would require state and local governments getting federal grants for water treatment plants to pay "prevailing" local wages often tied to pay scales for unionized building trades workers. Non-unionized construction firms say that would give their unionized rivals a competitive advantage in winning contracts. Bush has vetoed only one bill this year — a measure with more than $90 billion to continue wars in Iraq and Afghanistan tied to a timetable for withdrawing troops from the former, but also including the first minimum wage increase in a decade. Once Democrats removed the withdrawal timetable, he signed the bill, with the minimum wage increase.
