How hard is government contract work overseas? I have been offered a government contracting job and will be working 12 hour days, 7 days a week in Afghanistan. How hard will it be to work 12 hours everyday? What are the living conditions like, specifically? My contract term is for 12 months with 14 days paid vacation. Anyone who has worked for KBR, WWLR, or any other overseas government contracting company please fill me in. Anyone who has done civilian government contracting knows that the job pays really well...I just want to know if it will be worth it. I will be a counter agent at the airport.
Is my company legally obligated to pay me full per diem on a government contract? Ok here's the deal. I work for a company on a government contract that requires me to travel out of the country often. When I travel I'm usually out of the U.S. for 35+ days at a time. Well, my company does not give me the daily per diem rate for meals and incidental travel expenses (M&IE) for the location I am working in. Lodging is taken care of. At the end of each trip I have to fill out an expense report for my company and only get reimburse for what I spend. I was told companies on government contracts have to pay their employees the per diem rate set by the State Dept. for the location that they are working in? Is this true? If so is my company legally obligated to pay me full per diem or not? References would be nice!

Is it time to renegotiate our contract with the US government? If the Constitution is a contract between the people and the government, then is the government violating that contract more and more everyday? What should we do about it? Name one government official that looks as if he or she is of the people, for the people, or by the people.
Should a contract with the government be just one sided? There are thousands of men and women that retired from the military service of our great nation that were promised free medical care and treatment for themselves and their families. Now that free Medical Care and treatment is a situation where if you don't pay you won't have medical care. I find it not fair to do the work and then the Government says we don't have a contract. The Officers and senior Noncommissioned Officers promised all enlisted and for that matter Officers as well that if we would stay in service that we would have free care for self and family. My comrades and I stayed in the service doing our country's bidding, and when have filled our side of the contract the government says that we never had a contract. Does that not qualify as a verbal contract? Besides not medical care that I was promised what am I not getting?
what does a "DX-A2" rating on a government contract mean? I work at a shipping company and we have a shipment that was scheduled to go out on Monday but now they are calling us and saying they have a DX-A2 priority rating and basically we have to drop everything and get them their stuff. What is the truth? I have done some searching on-line and I know it has to do with defense and homeland security but do they really have any power and what do they need to supply to verify that power?
Government Contract Law? This is referring to the law where the government has to contract out at least 50% of its work to the public. Can someone please post me a link to where i can read the wording of this law and give me the name of the law also?

Would you sign the following contract with the federal/state government? I agree that if the federal and state government do not take any money out of my paycheck for welfare, food stamps, WIC, social security, medicare, and medicaid for me or anyone else, I will never, ever ask the government for help if I become poor or sick. I will rely on family, friends, and charity if I cannot support myself.
What about if the government contracted out universal health care? and also allowed private practices to stay in business... like there are private and public schools? and this way the government wouldn't be "doing it"... but businesses, probably a group of several businesses... and such huge contracts would almost have to save billions just in the bulk alone... comments? CONTRACTED OUT... that means businesses would be doing it... JUST LIKE THEY ARE RIGHT NOW!... come on people... focus and the last study I saw by the World Health Organization, we don't have the best service in the world overall... just saying... do profits not come first now? I'm afraid our government is driven by profit, the campain funding would dry up if no profits were to be made... and they can't allow that... so how do we work inside that system...
